Hate and violence against LGBTIQ* people in Poland is escalating. Many cities in Poland have already declared themselves as "LGBT* Free Zones". This is against human rights!
Every person has the right to shape their own life. We here in Germany, all over Europe and the world have to come together and stand strong against homophobia in Poland. We have to show solidarity with our friends in Poland and stand up against any kind of discrimination.
On 07.03.2020 we gathered in front of the Polish Institute in Berlin to demonstrate against this hate. Speeches were delivered, among others, by Monika Tichy (Lambda Szczecin):

“It is impossible to believe that somebody can say ‘this part of our society is not wanted here’. I don’t even mention the lack of rights - because we don’t even have registered partnerships or hate crimes protection - but this situation, when politicians say ‘we don’t want these people here’… It's like a nightmare or a movie from the previous century. I’m the organiser of the Szczecin Pride March. First Pride in Szczecin took place only in 2018 so it's not even 2 years ago, and when we were marching through Szczecin’s city streets several dozen guys stood opposite us and were throwing glasses and stones at us. I also participated in many Pride marches around Poland, including Lublin’s Pride, at which a married couple from Lublin brought a home-made bomb to detonate at the march.”
Something like this must not happen! It is not a "queer problem" it is a humanitarian problem - and we must fight against it together!
We call on EVERYONE, including our straight allies, to speak out against it, sign petitions and support, as much as possible even in times of #Corona, the Polish LGBTIQ* community with donations and assistance. Get in touch with activists and ask how YOU can help!
