On the occasion of the International Day Against Homo-, Bi-, Inter- and Trans*phobia (IDAHOBIT*), we held a vigil at Alexanderplatz. We were there with a 45-metre long carpet of flags, consisting of all the flags of the countries that currently criminalise homosexuality. In over 70 countries around the world, homosexual acts are still punished.
Furthermore, we were on site with flags and information for passers-by to draw attention to this day and to set a sign for the fight for a diverse society. No one should be discriminated against because of sexual orientation or gender identity: ENOUGH is ENOUGH!
On this day, it is important to show our colours and stand up against discrimination based on sexuality and/or gender identity. This year, due to COVID-19, no big demonstration for equality could take place and much will therefore be done digitally to strengthen online visibility and diversity.
